2020 Writing & Music

As you might've heard, 2020 was a weird year.

Despite the weirdness, I felt really fortunate to write a few pieces I was proud of as well as some music that kept me sane.

The articles I was most happy with were these two in Performer Magazine:

    - This interview with Ian Stich of StichMethod Guitar. I really enjoyed getting to speak with Ian, who was hilarious and incredibly kind. His YouTube channel is one of my favorites, and I'm really glad he's as genuine as he appears there.

     - This review of Jeff Tweedy's new book How to Write One Song. I'm a huge Tweedy/Wilco fan, and I feel like he's been operating at an incredibly high writing level these past few years - I was glad his book was just as good and left me with insight into his process (as well as tips to improve my own).

As far as music, this was the first time in over ten years I've released anything I've written, and it felt good. The Melted Coins band name has been in my head for many years, and I always assumed I'd start a band with it - it just never seemed to happen.

While I'm still really excited to collaborate with other musicians again, I'm also glad I didn't wait. It was a blast writing and recording - and it was a much-needed release from the stress of this year.

I've posted a few videos on my YouTube channel and will be putting the new tunes out on Bandcamp at some point as well - why not.

Here's to a great 2021 - why not.
